This morning, the subway was quite full and at one stop the doors hadn’t even opened yet and a woman was pushing against me to get out (I was backed up against the door myself). As she muttered “Excuse me” in a lame attempt to legitimise her pushing me out the doors I said “Well let me get out first” (reason here would suggest that if I had the room to move out of her way, she would have a free path to exit the train) I don’t understand people who are right near the doors who panic and rush out the second the train stops as though they wont get off in time – there is ample amount of time for people to get on and get off…argh – and then, the next stop, some stupid girl stood on my foot when she lumbered in – again, that rush to get on the train seems to some people license to barge in without thought for other passengers standing there innocently reading. I started to get the rage but realised it wasn’t really worth it (I must be suffering from maturity or something).
I just read my previous post - which is also about public transit and the people who use it - sorry if I am developing a boring theme! I am off to see Calexico tonight, so that should spice things up a bit...
